What is tnr/Tnvr?

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and Trap-Vaccinate-Neuter-Return (TVNR) are the most humane ways to manage community cat populations and to reduce the overall number of unwanted cats and kittens being born.

Trap: A safe method for securing your community cats for transporting to the clinic for sterilization. See the Traps & Trapping section of this site for more important details on trapping.

Vaccinate: Essential to control the spread of disease and illness. Usually performed during spay/neuter.

Spay/Neuter: Essential to help reduce cat overpopulation. An unspayed female can have 2-3 litters (averaging 4-6 kittens each) per year, starting at just 4 months old, leading to exponential population growth.

Return: Community cats are generally not suited for shelters and often face euthanasia. TVNR provides a better quality of life in their familiar outdoor homes. In addition, returning community cats to their original home site keeps new un-neutered cats from moving in.
